Yachiyo Engineering Signs Trilateral MoU with Thailand's National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC) and Atomis Inc.

-- Three-Party Collaboration to Tackle Energy Challenges in Thailand --

Yachiyo Engineering Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Tokyo; President & CEO: Tsutomu Takahashi) and Atomis Inc. (Headquarters: Kobe; Representative Director & CEO: Daisuke Asari; hereinafter referred to as "Atomis") have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Energy Technology Center (ENTEC), an agency under Thailand's National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), regarding the application of advance materials to energy technology. The MoU was concluded on April 23, 2026.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by H.E. Masato Otaka, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to the Kingdom of Thailand. The MoU was signed by Dr. Sumittra Charojrochkul, Executive Director of ENTEC; Daisuke Asari, Representative Director & CEO of Atomis; and Kenjiro Yamanaka, Director & Executive Officer, Head of the Business Development Division, Yachiyo Engineering.

Background and Objectives of the MoU

Thailand's urban gas pipeline infrastructure remains underdeveloped, and many households continue to rely on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) as their primary heat source. Amid rising energy prices and increasing fiscal pressure, there is an urgent need to transform the country's energy structure in a manner that balances energy security with decarbonization.

CubiTan®, the next-generation high-pressure gas container developed by Atomis, offers an innovative solution to drive this transition. By utilizing porous coordination polymers (PCP/MOFs) as gas adsorbents, CubiTan® enables:

● High-density gas storage in a compact and lightweight form
● Energy diversification through the substitution of LPG with methane gas and biogas
● Reduced environmental impact through the suppression of methane emissions

Building on the capabilities of CubiTan®, Yachiyo Engineering and Atomis are jointly developing the Smart Gas Network concept -- a pipeline-independent, intelligent system for gas delivery, billing, and management that contributes to both energy security and decarbonization.

Yachiyo Engineering and Atomis have been consistent participants in the National Science and Technology Fair, organized by Thailand's Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, to promote awareness of CubiTan®. The two companies also invited Professor Susumu Kitagawa, Distinguished Professor at Kyoto University and recipient of the 2025 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his pioneering work on PCP/MOF development, to deliver a special lecture at the Thai-Nichi Institute of Technology (TNI) in Bangkok. The conclusion of this MoU is the result of these sustained efforts.

Based on this MoU and in alignment with Thailand's Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC) and Power Development Plan (PDP), the three parties will advance research and development, innovation, and the real-world deployment of next-generation energy supply systems utilizing PCP/MOFs. Together, they aim to lead a bold transformation of Thailand's energy structure.
