・Background・

Since our establishment, we have been dedicated to solving social issues through the development of social infrastructure. In recent years, in response to increasingly complex and diverse social issues, our company has been supporting startups in the deep tech field and developing our own technologies.
As part of these efforts, we have decided to promote the concept of "Smart Gas Network", a new gas distribution system, in collaboration with Atomis Inc.
The development of a network utilizing Atomis' CubiTan® technology enables countries with a high dependence on imported energy to mutually utilize gas resources that can be produced within their own countries, without relying on pipelines. This will contribute to solving energy issues and reducing economic disparities.

To date, Yachiyo Engineering and Atomis have signed a business partnership agreement in April 2023. Additionally, in October 2023, we, along with Atomis, and Badan Riset dan Inovasi Nasional (BRIN) in Indonesia signed an MoU.

In September 2024, a demonstration project using the actual CubiTan® is scheduled to be conducted in Indonesia. Through this investment, our company will support the development and mass production of CubiTan® by Atomis in terms of funding, while also strengthening our collaborative framework to implement the "Smart Gas Network" business.

Additionally, using this as a starting point, Yachiyo Engineering will further promote the provision of new solutions through support for startups in the advanced technology field, known as deep tech.

・What's CubiTan®?・

The next-generation high-pressure gas container, "CubiTan®", was developed by Atomis Inc. It uses Porous Coordination Polymers (PCP/MOF) to control methane gas at the nano level, which was previously difficult to compress. This innovation will lead to the downsizing and weight reduction of the current heavy and oversized gas cylinders.
Porous Coordination Polymer (PCP), also known as Metal-Organic Framework (MOF), was pioneered by Professor Susumu Kitagawa of the Institute for Integrated Cell-Material Sciences (iCeMS) at Kyoto University in 1997. MOF is a general term for materials where metal and organic compounds form a stable and continuous three-dimensional structure with controlled porosity at the nano level. This material is versatile, and expected to be utilized in a wide range of industries.
