Overview
In Japan, the working-age population between the ages of 15 and 64 has been decreasing since the 1990s. The construction industry has been particularly affected, and the labor shortage will only become more severe.
Accordingly, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (MLIT) is trying to overcome the labor shortage problem by increasing labor productivity in the construction industry by 20% by 2025 through the i-Construction policy.
In order to quickly increase labor productivity, we introduced Autodesk, Inc.’s 3D CAD for civil engineering in 2005 and started 3D design, and now our engineers in various fields are adequately capable of working on 3D design.
We also have established a CIM qualification system within the company to enable engineers to acquire the basic skills that are essential for utilizing BIM/CIM, and to make accurate instructions and decisions in the BIM/CIM business.
3D design with advanced strategies through BIM / CIM
We have a proven track record in 3D design in a various fields since we started introducing the use of Autodesk’s 3D CAD for civil engineering in 2005. We utilize BIM/CIM for construction-related and road design to solve corporate issues such as productivity improvement from design to construction, safety and security.
・ For example, the amount of soil is automatically calculated by determining the surface and alignment of the road, making route selection more efficient in 3D design.
・ The 3D system allows us to verify spatial positional relationships from a variety of angles, improving the efficiency of work that used to be time-consuming with conventional 2D drawings (e.g., the design of two tunnels to be constructed in close proximity).
・Designing multiple buildings with BIM

・A 3D laser scanner was used to measure point clouds inside the corridor
・The introduction of 3D simulation allows for planning to avoid the risks of rework during construction.
・Install permanent steel rails in the inspection corridor in the dam embankment for long time use
